This little guy was an Add-a-Foal for Infernal Whimsy that I painted in the same color pattern. I was planning on giving him a ‘real’ name, but Firefoal had a nice ring to it—so it stuck. (more…)

I did this same pose, first with Jumpin’ Jehosaphat and then Squishy. This little guy was the last custom order I did with this reculpt, but I’m thinking of giving it one more try… this time with the correct resculpting done. (more…)

This little gal was painted as an Add-a-Foal to go with Pacific Angel. Not much to say here, other than the shading looked better in person (as the the wont of phthalocyanine blue). (more…)

Jumpin’ Jehosaphat

This little gal was the first of the Scrambling Foal molds that I turned into a bucking bronco– but certainly not the last!

This mold absolutely refused to stand upright without some sort of base and I really got tired of customizing them because of it. I had some luck gluing Hell’s Little Angel to her base, but I wanted to see what else I could do with the mold.

And thus, after a bit of heat-gunning, Jumpin’ Jehosaphat was born! He needs some work and the following models had a bit more resculpting done to make the legs a little less wonky.

Not a whole lot to say on this one. This was a simple Add-a-Foal for Stonehenge Lilac (for a while I had a requirement that the foals be the same color as the ‘parent’). Same stencil brush technique as on the adult, nothing fancy about him/her– although you really can’t tell that from the rather lackluster photos. (more…)

Avast! This little gal is out to take over the field and teach those colts to walk the plank!

This little gal was the first of this mold that I started fiddling around with bases for. The mold is very unstable and tend to fall over if you look at them sideways, so I had been looking for ways to make them a little less domino prone. (more…)

The one nice thing about the Add-a-Foals was I got very very good at turning out basic coat colors and patterns without sinking a lot of time into the model. When the horse is only costing someone $5, it’s a lot easier to let go of the perfectionism and play a little. (more…)
