Breyer G2 Stablemate Saddlebred

Sandman’s Gold

This little gal has been waiting far too long in the 2005-era body box and I figure it was time to finally finish her up! (Plus I realized I hadn’t painted a non-Fantasy horse in quite some time and maybe I should break that habit.)

Sandman (or Sandlady?) is a semi-smutty buckskin that is based very loosely on some dark-faced horses I saw while roaming Google. She’s got a long wide blaze, a snip of white on her front right leg and enough attitude to liven any shelf herd! And I’m totally not saying that just because I’m addicted to the G2 ASB. Nopenopenope. Money to Burn

Originally painted back in the early 2000’s this little gal has gone back under the brush to fix some rubs and bring her up to current standards! She might have been a snappy dresser before, but this time I think she’s really nailed the look…

Money started out as a basic red bay, then turned into a red buckskin with reverse dappling, and is now a much smuttier buckskin with milder dappling. Her white and silver ribbons didn’t survive the new round of pastels, so I’ve repainted them to a nice mottled green. I was planning to go back with copper crosshatching, but I think she looks pretty dapper as is. (more…)
