Blood Price

This little guy is one of the minor resculpts that I did, just a smidge of epoxy to change the profile of the face. It’s not enough to make him look off when he’s by himself but it gives him a nice pop when he’s lined with with other warmbloods.

Price was one of my later horses, as you can tell by the in-focus pictures and the nifty backgrounds. The shading doesn’t show up too well in the photos, but he certainly wasn’t the monotone bay that he appears.

Unnamed Saddlebred Draft Resculpt

Unnamed Custom Model Horse

Make: Breyer
Scale: Stablemate
Mold: Saddlebred (G2)
Color: Black Tobiano
Gallery: Tobiano
Medium: Epoxy and Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

This little gal was a custom order for Nancy (last name lost to the mists of time… and my file cabinet) and one of the many draft-cross customs that I did from the Saddlebred G2 mold.

While I’m not as happy with the tobinao pattern on this one as I am with the some of the others, this one was done about the time I was getting the hang of sculpting hair that didn’t look horrible. (more…)

Unnamed Custom Foal (Breyer Stablemate)

Unnamed

Yet another unnamed foal with no records to say where it was from or who it was for… I seem to be rather good at doing that. *sigh*

The resculpting was limited to adding feathering to the legs and adding a bit to the face to pull him out of the more generic ‘I am a foal’ look.

The pattern is a very basic minimal black tobaino, but I should have painted him as more of a baby black and not the solid dark coloring. Ah well, he was one of my earlier customs, so live and learn!

I do love this mold though… wish Breyer hadn’t replaced the old H-R Stablemates!

Fancy Alibi

Color: Bay
Gallery: Bay
Medium: Acrylics and Pastels
Status: Painted 2005 and Sold Feb 2005

This is one of the many many Saddlebred resculpts I did. It’s one of the simpler ones, all I did here was removed the mane and crop the tail. The ribbons are done in layers of paint rather than sculpting, which is sort of the lazy way, I supposed, but I think it came out well. I never really did master the art of sculpting little tiny things in epoxy– something to work on in the future! (more…)
