I created a series of seaside crosses for the church craft fair one year. These were beach scenes with sandy bases, rough waters, tiny sandpipers, and a storm on the horizon. It was a lot of fun breaking out the magnifying glasses to try and get the sandpipers just right!
The sand is a mixture of decor sand and wood glue that was then painted to tie it in with the rest of the picture. The waves are finished with Liquitex Gloss sealer and the storm clouds, birds, and beach are done in matte. You should be able to wipe them clean with a damp cloth, but please don’t leave let them sit out in the rain.
The crosses are roughly 3.5 inches tall and about 3 inches wide and are most likely made of birch plywood, but only ArtMinds knows for sure. The magnet on the back is a single flat strip that runs the length of the cross. It’s quite sturdy and should be able to hold up paper without issues (although it might have issues with cardstock). The magnets are reinforced with wood glue and have been painted over and well sealed, so they won’t come loose.
