This fabulous little flash of pink is the first of my second batch of butterflies!
She’s got a base of solid magenta wings and a pink body with silver and gold accents. The paint CraftSmart paint pens aren’t great at doing fine lines, but they are great for pointillism (as long as you don’t press too hard.)
She was finished with Liquitex Gloss sealer, which is pretty durable, but she’s cut out for life on the fridge and not the sink. You should be able to wipe her clean with a damp cloth, but please don’t leave her out in the rain.
The butterflies are a craft wood cutout roughly 3 inches long and about 2.5 inches high. They are most likely made of birch plywood, but only ArtMinds knows for sure.
The square magnet on the back was recycled from whiteboards and has a decent amount of holding power. The magnet is attached with superglue and reinforced with wood glue. It’s been painted over and well sealed, so you don’t have to worry about it coming loose.
Have a different color in mind for your garden-themed buddy? Just drop me a line and I can paint you the butterfly of your dreams! (Or nightmares… but that doesn’t seem wise.)
Medium: Liquitex White Gesso, Apple Barrel Acrylics (20535 Light Pink, 20591 Bright Magneta, 20504 Black), and CraftSmart paint pens (Gold, Silver).
