Description

Rusty is a Safari Ltd. TOOB rearing pony painted to a flaxen chestnut tobiano with realistic brown eyes, a blaze, a grass base, and a matte finish. I trimmed up her seams a little and removed his logo, but this pony was meant as a fun shelf piece and not a Live (or Photo) Show competitor.

(This is technically a mare mold, but I’m pretending he’s an undercover gelding. For reasons!)

The Rearing Pony mold doesn’t have quite as many balance issues as the Running one, but this little guy still needed a base to keep from tipping over. It’s made of Apoxie Sculpt, painted brown, and then covered with train grass. The grass is attached with wood glue, so it’s pretty sturdy! He does have a little bit of a lean to him, but stands well on flat surfaces.

He’s roughly 2.5 inches wide and 2.5 inches high, so bigger than a Micromini or Mini Whinnie (1:64 scale) and smaller than a Stablemate (1:32)– so maybe 1:50ish?

This little guy was started in January 2020 and finished in April 2021 as part of my ‘paint ALL the ponies!’ craze. I have an incredibly bad habit of starting things and then getting distracted… this little dude was one of those victims.
