High Fantasy/Second World, Magical Companion Sentients, War, Camp NaNoWriMo 2011

Maybelle Smith is a small town weaver’s daughter on the cusp of graduation. She’s got her mind on her fiancé, her apprenticeship as a baker, and a move to the big city. Her future is finally living up to her dreams.
Foxhawks are born to partner with a specific human and Baron has waited the three years since his hatching with growing anticipation of that event. He can see down the future probability trees and things look brighter than he dared hoped for.
Golden foxhawks are born for war and there’s an egg in the nests at Pine Reach that could spell the end of the long peace between the three kingdoms. They will have three years to prepare, but after that, not even the foxhawks can see what happens next.
And then things go horribly, horribly wrong.
NOTE: This is the first draft of a story, so it will most likely contain plot holes, retcons, and other inconsistencies. I’ll come back and fix things once the story (or arc) is complete!

This is still very much an ugly rough draft, but a few folks have asked to read it in its horribly unkempt form.
