Savannah Daydreams

Savannah Daydreams

Make: Breyer
Scale: Little Bits/Paddock Pals
Mold: Unicorn
Color: Brindle Springbok-ish
Gallery: Unicorns
Medium: Acrylics and Prismacolor Pencils
Status: Painted 200? and Home Herd

This little guy is one of my favorite customs and he will never ever leave my home herd. He may be a bit rough in places, but Daydreams is what I picture when I think of wild unicorns—phooey on glowing white horses!

He is, in theory, a brindle horse with a pseudo-springbok pattern. As you can see from the picture on the left I took ‘springbok pattern’ and twisted it quite a bit.

The bay-brindle coat color is also leaning heavily towards the canine version instead of the equine one, but I figure he’s a unicorn so reality doesn’t matter quite as much.

Savannah Daydreams

Daydreams started as a Littlebit unicorn who had his cloven hooves uncloven, his horn smoothed and curled, and his face resculpted to be a bit less anorexic. I was tempted to try for his mane and tail as well, but he was one of the later production pieces that used the unfriendly new plastic.

He’s done fairly well for himself in live and photo shows, but I doubt he’d hold up as well if I threw him into today’s show ring. There are a lot more fantasy artists out there now than there used to be and they appear to be stiff competition. (Have I told you how happy it makes me to see other people painting silly-colored horses? There no emoticon smiles larger enough! *grin*)

Maybe someday I’ll touch him up and throw him back in the ring, but for now he’ll be busy keeping my Home Herd in line…

Sure! 🙂 I’d have to go dig in the LB body box to see if I have another unicorn body though—I’ll let you know once I get home tonight and have a chance to pull it out.
