Mold: Mule (G2)
Color: Tiger-striped Springbok-ish
Status: Painted 200? currently part of the Home Herd
This little precurser to Muleycorn was actually my first stab at customizing the G2 Mule mold. I only ended up painting a few of these during my customizing run… I just didn’t think the mold was very interesting, which amuses me highly since now I wish I had more of them!Ripley’s Whimsy
Ripley (named for Ripley’s Believe it or Not) shares the curved horn that adorns many of my custom unicorns. As much as I love the traditional white unicorn with straight twisted horn, it looks much more natural to me to have something with a bit of a curve to it.
At some point I’ll have to do unicorns based on the various antler styles, but I think that will have to wait until I get better at sculpting. (Alas.)
The coat color is another nod to Savannah Daydreams, although it’s a step farther away from the true Springbok coloration. The tiger stripes were a last minute addition, but I think they add a nice accent to his coat.
I need to go back and touch up his eyes, I’ve gotten significantly better at them over the years, but overall I’m pretty pleased with his coloration. The pattern is very rough between the white and the brown, but I like the visual. Not horribly realistic, but he is a unicorn so I’ll cut him some slack.Ripley’s Whimsy Ripley’s Whimsy Ripley’s Whimsy Ripley’s Whimsy Ripley’s Whimsy
