The best thing about fantasy horses is that anything goes!
The bad thing is that after two hundred some horses… the Muses get a little grumpy at times. This little gal sat on the shelf prepped and waiting to go for quite a while before I got the idea to turn her into a fake window hanger.
There are two shades each of red, orange, and yellow scattered across her. I did my best not to let any color touch itself, but I did end up with some areas that were heavily red. Next time I’ll probably lay out the black pattern, then paint a single color at a time (alternating between the three colors– hopefully that will make me more aware of when I’m hitting color overload in an area.
I also relearned why trying to paint with just Cadmium Yellow is an exercise in futility. Seriously, if you are ever trying to paint with this color, mix it in with something else to give it some opacity. Otherwise you’ll be on the fifth coat and ready to throw the horse out the window. *mutter*
