Holly

Holly

Make: Breyer
Scale: Stablemate
Mold: Scrambling Foal (G2)
Color: Bay Minimal Tobiano
Gallery: Tobiano
Medium: Acrylics and Pastels
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

I did this same pose, first with Jumpin’ Jehosaphat and then Squishy. This little guy was the last custom order I did with this reculpt, but I’m thinking of giving it one more try… this time with the correct resculpting done.

Overall, I think he/she came out pretty well, even without the resculpting. The pastels added that wonderfully soft dimension to the dark points and the bay coat has a nice sense of depth to it. I do wish I’d made the outlines of the white markings a little crisper, but such is hindsight.

The spray sealer was also acting oddly here, there’s very little difference between the coat and the glossed eyes—I know I was using the same Krylon matte finish as I normally do, but it looks oddly semi-gloss here. At some point I’ll have to do some research into how you are supposed to use sealers– I think there’s a few things I’m not doing quite right.
