1. Heavy fog hovering on the edge of rain hangs almost low enough to touch, reducing the forest to tree trunks that fade upwards into the mist..
2. “If I didn’t know better, I’d swear he was trying to kill us,” he said, rubbing his shin as they watched the massive tortoise lumber happily away with the head of cabbage.
3. The sprawling computer complex was only one hub in a network that encompassed every aspect of humanity. As the world went about its daily grind, the three central Fates carefully curated each life according to the plans laid down generations earlier.
4. Dragons had long since gnawed away the precious metals, leaving the ancient temple’s marble base gouged and pitted (much like its priesthood), but stubbornly devout.
5. I never thought I’d be carpooling with a daemon, but his SUV’s a hybrid and it gets us into the express lanes.
