1. “This isn’t life or death,” she said with a shrug. “I doubt anyone will even remember it tomorrow.” He could tell she was trying to be kind, but she was rubbish at it.

2. For centuries, communication between telepaths was limited to line-of-sight, their powers useless until they could catch the others’ eyes. Now thoughts race across the globe in silent video calls until the lag overwhelms the magic.

3. His day planner is a riot of color. Equal parts pen, highlighter, and stickers it’s terrifyingly effective for reasons no one else can quite wrap their minds around.

4. Most long haul ships have green rooms, from a few ferns to public hydroponics bays. A way to touch grass and soothe their inner animal’s claustrophobia as they while away the months (or years).

5. The wrench was her grandfather’s, silently rusting away in the barn for decades. They’d joked it was large enough to fight with — she wields it now with ruthless efficiency.
