Gelbspritz is a Breyer Mini Whinnie Grazing Foal painted a yellow-bay splash overo, with blue eyes, a bald face with pinked nose, shell hooves, a splash of blue on her nose, and a matte finish. I’ve had a decent go at removing her seams and logo, but these little equines are meant as fun shelf pieces and not Live (or Photo) Show competitors.
I wanted to do something fun with one of the grazing foals and since Gelbspritz had a slight hover-hoof on her front left leg, I decided to go with her pawing at something. I was in the middle of rephotographing the beach cross magnets and thought it would be fun to throw in some surf and sand!
The bit of blue that ‘splashed’ on her nose was a happy little accident! 😂
Gelbspritz is a mangling of the German ‘yellow’ (Gelb) and spritz, because I was feeling a bit silly while poking around in Google Translate for a good name.
While the horse and the sand have matte sealer coats, the water, splash on her nose, and her eyes are glossy. Most of my fantasy horses are glossy, but I thought it made the water pop a little more– so she definitely stands out in the herd!
She’s roughly 1.5 inches long (with base), 0.5 inches wide, and 0.75 inches high. Breyer claims they’re all 1:64 scale (although the Mini Whinnies molds tend to vary a lot in relative size).
She was started in April 2021 and finished up in June as part of a ‘paint ALL the Mini Whinnies!’ charge.
