Briar Rose is a Breyer Mini Whinnie Jog Trot Quarter Horse Mare painted a flaxen red chestnut frame over with a bald face, blue eyes, grey hooves, and a matte finish. I’ve had a decent go at removing her seams and logo, but these little equines are meant as fun shelf pieces and not Live (or Photo) Show competitors.
I love the old fairy tales and when it came time to name this little gal, it was an easy pick. This sleeping beauty had been snoozing the in the body box for quite a while before she made it onto the workbench! 😅
This mold is actually one of the steadier ones, but I was having fun making the bases for everyone else, so she got one too! She’s permanently attached to a wooden base that has been covered with model train grass. The grass is attached with wood glue and the model is attached with superglue, so the whole thing’s pretty darned sturdy.
The Jog Trot mold is roughly 2.25 inches long, 1.25 inches high, and a half-inch wide. With the base, this gal is a little closer to an inch wide but is otherwise mostly the same. Breyer claims they’re all 1:64 scale, but Mini Whinnies molds tend to vary a lot in relative size.
She was started in April 2021 and finished up in June as part of a ‘paint ALL the Mini Whinnies!’ charge.
