Thorsday Blues (Custom Breyer Stablemate Drafter)

Thorsday Blues - Custom Breyer Stablemate G4 Drafter - Martha Bechtel - Portrait

This little guy was bought as a random blind bag painting project specifically for fuzzy-sick-brains!

I got my second COVID shot on a Wednesday morning, April 2021 and by Thursday I was well into the lands of brain fuzz. What better time to paint some ponies? 😂 (Also: it’s apparently inadvisable to catch a cold at the same time you get your second shot. It was an ‘interesting’ few days.)

I love blue (as you might have noticed) so I went to town with a stencil brush and a vaguely ocean theme. While Thorsday does a rough pseudo-mimic of a dappled gray, he’s very much a straight fantasy horse. He has realistic eyes and a slightly glossy coat. but I have no clue if he’d be Live or Photo Show quality.

Either way, he makes a great shelf-horse and is ready to bring a little seaside charm to your home (or office) ((or home office))!

Thorsday is a Breyer Stablemate Draft (G4) painted to a graying mottled blue bay with realistic eyes. I sanded his seams and removed the Breyer logo, but no other customizations have been made to the mold.

Medium: Liquitex White Gesso, and Apple Barrel Acrylics (21485 Blue Bonnet, 20773 English Navy, 20503 White, 20504 Black).
