Mulberry is a Breyer Stablemate G2 Thoroughbred painted in an unrealistically literal red bay with a blaze, snip, skunk tail, and multicolored mane. I sanded her seams and removed the Breyer logo, but no other customizations have been made to the mold.
While I started Mulberry a few weeks before Thorsday Blues (who was painted in the same style), I actually ended up finishing them at the same time in April 2021. There’s nothing like second-shot Covid downtime to get painting done!
I had a great time layering the random stippling and may have gone a smidge overboard on the number of layers! 😂
She’s got a glossy sealer coat and I have no clue if she’d be Photo Show quality, but she’s not Live Show Quality. Either way, she makes a great shelf-horse and is ready to bring a little wild berry splash to your shelves!
Medium: Liquitex White Gesso, and Apple Barrel Acrylics (20511 Brown Oxide, 21467 Tuscan Red, 20503 White, 20504 Black).
