Leaping Horse #16

Leaping Horse Magnet 016 - Black Appaloosa - Martha Bechtel - Front less reflection

Up in the sky! It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… THUNDER PONY! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Sometimes when casting with plaster things don’t come out quite right. In this case, the cast was much too thin and would most likely have broken when someone tried to move it. Thus this little guy got a nifty wooden background to keep in in one piece. (Still, if you drop him, there’s a good chance he’s gonna break.)

So this little guy is now galloping along a stormy grey cloud on a mottled blue sky!

He’s got two strips of magnet on his back, so he’s strong-ish… but he’s much more decorative than effective. I wouldn’t try putting him on a fridge door if he’s holding up anything else.

He’s a plaster and wood glue cast on a wooden rectangle and is roughly 2.5 inches x 3.5 inches. He is water-resistant, but not water-proof, so don’t send him off for a swim!

I started this little guy October 2016 and finished him off in April 2021. I’m slowly working my way through all of my old ‘body box’ trying to finish off the small army of works-in-progress.
