1. Another fight would be the end of him and the great space wyrm knows it. She waits, weapons locked but not firing as he slowly unwinds from the tunnels he’s carved into her asteroid.

2. The crests of the snow drifts caress the eves and scatter a dusting of flakes along dormer windowsills.

3. Ash trees are planted at each corner of the forest and the ley lines that course that pattern keep the darkness trapped inside.

4. “I found it!” Her brother raced past her, laughing, stolen diary in hand, and for a second her world froze.

5. The ghost in Grady dorm has never been scary, it’s too friendly for that. Freshmen quickly get used to asking for help finding lost keys or pranking folks from other dorms.
