World of Treadcraft – Week 2

Treadmill Gaming Computer

Week 2 was pretty much an adventure in ‘How to Not Die Leveling as a Resto Druid’ which went much better than expected. I had a few near misses where I was saved by another player (who I then inelegantly healed). Whoops. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

Thankfully I’ve kept most of my walking balance, so I’m able to play pretty accurately until I start getting tired. Once upon a few years ago, I was running dungeons at 3mph, so who knows…

This week I’m leveling Resto Druid Featherpaw and running with addons: SexyMap, Bartender4, ThreatPlates, and Pawn.

World of Warcraft - Awesome Sunsets - Featherpaw
I can set it to this for like… five minutes and then it’s dead. ๐Ÿ˜…

The treadmill computer is… old. Like Alienware Aurora R2 old. To be fair it has the larger power supply now and a slightly better graphics card, but top of the line is not something it’s been for a long while. I can run WoW and pretty much nothing else at the same time.

So of course ten minutes after I started playing Windows decided it needed an update. Which cut today’s walk a bit short. I got in 30 min at 1.4 mph before I rage quit over all the freezes and program crashes.

But I did ding two levels (because I stopped just short of one yesterday), so win!

Featherpaw: level 18
New Addons: none

World of Warcraft - Dramatically Posing Moose - Featherpaw
So I take screenshots with my normal computer for reasons… pretty pretty reasons

It took almost 24 hours for the windows updates to download and install, so… yeah. Poor old ‘puter. *pats it fondly*

That said, I did 35 min at 1.5 mph and picked up another level. Someone else was on in my guild so I finally got a guild invite too (woot!). That will make it a lot easier to chat with folks if they’re on when I am.

I think I may go ahead and pick up a unit frames addon in a bit, but so far I haven’t really needed it.

Featherpaw: level 19
New Addons: none

World of Warcraft - Kyle the Friendly - Inkpaw

Took the day off, just wasn’t feeling like WoW’ing. (Daily walking’s a new habit, I can’t always win the motivation game. ๐Ÿ˜‚)

World of Wacraft - Dalaran Snowglobe - Featherpaw Elf
A Goblin’in we go, a Goblin’in we go, high ho the derry-o, a Goblin’in we go…

39 min at 1.5 mph and starting to feel like 60 min and 2 mph isn’t a crazy goal for the end of the year. Huzzah!

I ended up adding on Z-Perl because I was having issues tracking what HoTs I had running on myself. I did take a look at Tukui and Elvuii but that’s just too big a change.

I’m thinking of adding WeakAuras and GTFO back in tomorrow, I miss the Giant Flashes Of Doom that signal when I’m dying. With the really minimal graphics, I have issues not standing in the bad. ๐Ÿ˜…

I did finally give in and buy a bag on the auction house. I’m also rethinking my professions– apparently Highmountain have a bonus to mining and I’m just not feeling the tailoring vibe.

Featherpaw: level 21
New Addons: Z-Perl Unit Frames

World of Warcraft - Heirlooms vs Random Drops - Featherpaw
Mismatched Mooses

37 min at 1.5 mph and things are definitely starting to fall into place. I feel like I’m getting a bit better with the keybinds and reaction times, so survivability should go way up now.

It occurred to me that I do have a whole bunch of heirlooms that I’d been using with other alts… but it turns out they aren’t really that much better than what I have (and they all expire at 29). Since this is my first druid that’s not normally furry, I’m enjoying seeing the mismatched gear! ๐Ÿคฃ

I paused to do some of the Santa quests, because reasons… I really should get on my main this weekend and see if there are any holiday achievs I’m missing.

I could have walked farther, but the computer started giving me issues again (explorer.exe is not my friend). Oh well, I’ll catch-up tomorrow!

Featherpaw: level 21
New Addons: none

World of Warcraft - Harry Potter Jokes - Featherpaw
Harry Potter jokes never get old… right?

52 min at 1.5 mph and had one epic overpull that I just squeaked out a win on thanks to having all my omgwtf keybinds setup. Victory for over-planners! ๐Ÿ˜‚

I picked up WeakAuras today and I’m using a prebuilt to start with. It’s not that helpful at the moment, but as I level it should get better. I tend to tweak them a bit anyway, so I may do a post on that later.

There are many things I will do a post on… someday. (I am bad at ‘someday’s.)

Featherpaw: level 23
New Addons: WeakAuras (Luxthos Druid WeakAuras for Shadowlands)

World of Warcraft - Moose-less Mining - Featherpaw
Alas, you cannot mine in Travel Form. Woe.

43min at 1.5mph and I’m starting to feel a little frustrated at the two whole damage spells I have to play with. I mean– I’m using the healing spells (to keep from dying), it just feels all sorts of wrong to just be doing 1-2-2-2-2-2-2-1 over and over.

I swapped from skinning to mining and threw GatherMate2 into the mix. I haven’t done mining before (that I remember) so this should be a fun experiment!

I did cheat a bit and after walking I hopped back on to play for a bit on the desktop computer. I wanted to see if I could find some things to mine–

Featherpaw: level 24
New Addons: GatherMate2

Weekly Sum-up

I’ve been getting better with keybinds and reaction times– but I still almost tripped on the treadmill when the game wanted me to run in lots of circles. So I’m not going to be trying to run dungeons as a healer anytime soon. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

But that’s not the point of leveling the alts this way!

If I want to run dungeons or do more complicated things with them, I’ll sit down at the desktop. The treadmill computing is meant to be solo fun where the only one who will suffer my mistakes is me.

But I like questing and crafting and achievement hunting, so it all works out! ๐Ÿ˜

In Other Toons

I didn’t play any other toons this week, although I probably should get back into leveling my 60 with the Winged Scientologist faction. Wheee…

World of Warcraft - Along For the Ride - Icepaw
