Sometimes you’ve just gotta dance! This dapper black butterfly is decked out dots and doodles of metallic flare and is ready to bring a little shimmy to wherever he lands.
I painted him at the same time as I did #10 (back in October 2018) and the two of them were a fun waltz into the more abstract lands of magnet-dom!
He was painted a solid black in acrylics and then layered with dots of silver paint pen on the bottom and a layer of golden paint pen doodles on top.
The butterflies are finished with Liquitex Gloss sealer, which is pretty durable, but they’re cut out for life on the fridge and not the sink. You should be able to wipe them clean with a damp cloth, but please don’t leave them out in the rain.
These bits of flutter are roughly 3 inches long and about 2.5 inches high. They are most likely made of birch plywood, but only ArtMinds knows for sure.
The magnets on the back are generic flat magnets, but with a double row the butterflies have a nice bit of holding power. I tested them with three pieces of printer paper and they had no issues. The magnets are reinforced with wood glue and have been painted over and well sealed, so they won’t come loose.
Have a different color in mind for your garden-themed buddy? Just drop me a line and I can paint you the butterfly of your dreams! (Or nightmares… but that doesn’t seem wise.)

Medium: Liquitex White Gesso, Apple Barrel Acrylics (20504 Black), and CraftSmart paint pens (Gold, Silver).
