
As much fun as I had with the fantasy butterflies, when I did the second flock kaleidoscope in October 2018 I was itching to try a more realistic pattern! ๐
Thus this little gal is a heavily stylized Viceroy (not a Monarch). Sadly I don’t remember why I picked the lesser-known species at the time, but I had a few fun conversations about it at the craft fair.
She is a wooden butterfly cutout painted in orange, black, and white. She has a recycled square magnet and was sealed in a glossy finish.

Medium: Liquitex White Gesso and Apple Barrel Acrylics (21472 Jack-o-lantern, 21471 Spiced Carrot, 20504 Black, 20503 White).
