1. The house is cleverly painted and decorated to blend into the edge of the beach. If she hadn’t known where to stop, she would have walked right past it looking for the glamour that wasn’t there.

2. Throwing spears shatter against the shieldwall as arrows arc overhead, seeking softer targets. There’s little they can do but press forward, the nimble cavalry is still too far away to reach.

3. “Your father speaks very highly of you,” said the Necromancer.

4. Mist rises from the fields as the sunlight hits them, soft hazy clouds that smell of childhood summertimes and new beginnings.

5. They lose three ships before they realize the colonists are using their decrepit satellites as blunt force weaponry.
