What happens when an artist gets her hands on some new paint pens? …BUTTERFLIES! ?
This little blue-green collection of dots was my first jump into the puddles of the paint pen world back in July 2017. I painted him with a flat acrylic basecoat and then went to town with the markers. After many layers of dotting, he’s a bit stained glass-esque and a whole lot of color!
He was finished with Liquitex Gloss sealer, which is pretty durable, but he’s cut out for life on fridge and not the sink. You should be able to wipe him clean with a damp cloth, but please don’t leave him out in the rain.
This handsome fella is a craft wood cutout roughly 3 inches long and about 2.5 inches high. He is most likely made of birch plywood, but only ArtMinds knows for sure.
The magnets on the back are generic flat magnets, but with a double row the butterflies have a nice bit of holding power. I tested them with four pieces of printer paper and they had no issues. The magnets are reinforced with wood glue and have been painted over and well sealed, so they won’t come loose.
Have a different color in mind for your garden-themed buddy? Just drop me a line and I can paint you the butterfly of your dreams! (Or nightmares… but that doesn’t seem wise.)
Medium: Liquitex White Gesso, CraftSmart Acrylics (Sailing Sky), and CraftSmart paint pens (Black, Purple, Navy, Blue, Dark Green, Green, Yellow, Gold, Silver).
