Painting variations on the night sky has always been one of my favorite things to do and when this little guy insisted on being blue, I knew it was time to break out the stars!
This twinkling little Fat Unicorn is painted a solid navy blue with silver eyes, pearl and gold faux-Appaloosa spots, champagne mane and tail, and gold horn and hooves.
He was part of the unicorn herd explosion that I painted in September of 2019 for that year’s UCP craft fair. I was having a great time playing around with all the colors unicorns could come in, and this guy was certainly an outlier!
You can tell by his mostly-finished back that he was towards the end of the ‘offsides have to be perfect’ rut I got stuck in with the first generation of magnets. (I’ve since moved to more minimalistic offsides.)
He was cast using the magnet leveling jig and has a slightly raised magnet and a nice flat back.
