1. There are no bouncers here, instead vases are scattered around the room, sleek black urns that blend into the decorations and trap negative emotions like pitcher plants.

2.  The bird is wrong in ways she can’t quite name, but he picks it out of the flock without prompting and nocks an arrow.

3. “If you loved me–“

“I shouldn’t have to buy you things to prove I love you!”

“If you loved me, I shouldn’t have to ask you to!”

4. Before the dragon can react, the other ship turns tail and vanishes into folded space. With a curse she swings in the pilot’s harness, spinning the battleship to bring up its hardened belly scales against the incoming swarms she knows will follow.

5. The iron golem paces through the cornfield with a single-minded focus, ignoring the objections of his passengers.
