Fat Pony #42

Fat Pony Magnet #42 Orange Flaxen Frame Overo - Front
Fat Pony Magnet #42

I was painting Fat Pony Magnets as donations for Big Orange Bash so you’d figure there’d be a lot of orange in the herd… but this little guy turned out to be the only one in the bunch!

When I started I was tempted to paint another faux-Tennessee Agate like my very first donation to the show, but then I chickened out and went for a more ‘normal’ pattern. I already had a bunch of faux-stone horses and I figured another one might tip things over into ‘too many.’

So instead of stripes he got a big fluff frame overo cloud, two white socks, and a big old blaze on his face! The difference in the oranges is hard to see, but he’s actually got lighter hooves and hair to round out the ensemble.

He’s already long gone from the stables, so you won’t find him on Etsy as he was a donation to this year’s Big Orange Bash!

The Fat Ponies are hand-cast in resin from a handmade silicone mold of my own sculpture and thus no two will be exactly alike. He has several layers of gloss coating and will stand up to splashes and wiping with a damp cloth… but he probably shouldn’t go for a swim.

Ponies are roughly 2.25 inches from nose to tail and 1.5 inches from hoof to mane. The magnets used are small round ceramic magnets and they are strong enough to hold up paper on a swinging door, but not cardstock.

This little guy was cast from the first generation OOMOO molds with the magnet leveling jig. He only needed a little bit of carving to clean up his edges so his back is as close to flat as it gets! ๐Ÿ™‚
