Teyla was oddly glad for Rodney’s presence, his startled yelps and uncensored reactions to her social missteps were easily interpreted.
“Ack! Clothes! Go put on clothes!” accompanied by flustered hand-waving was far easier to understand than John’s averted gaze and embarrassed flushing, or Elizabeth attempted tactful explanation of why swimming required clothing. By discrete testing she slowly learned the customs of her hosts, using Rodney for rough approximation and the others as refining tools.
She would have shared this knowledge with Ronon, but the runner seemed to enjoy trampling on the Atlantean’s sense of propriety.
Besides, Rodney was amusing.
