Some fantasy dolphins love to stand out, but this little guy is all about blending into the oceans deep. With a marbled flow of the currents and the splash of seafoam white his impression of a wave has everyone fooled!
An almost-twin to Dolphin #001, his pattern is modeled after the Dusky Dolphin (Lagenorhynchus obscurus). These svelte mammals normally come in black, grey and white, but where’s the fun in that?
So instead of a monotone, I painted him in amusingly ocean-themed acrylics (Island Blue, Sailing Sky, and Ocean Breeze). His back is a less nautical black, but like a tux it makes him look quite dashing in a crowd.
The dolphin is a craft wood cutout roughly 4 inches long and about 2.5 inches high. He’s most likely made of birch plywood, but only ArtMinds knows for sure. He was painted in acrylics and finished with a high gloss to make him shine like water in the kitchen-light.
He’s pretty durable, but please don’t take him for a swim!
The magnets on his back are your generic flat magnets and he can hold three sheets of paper. If you’d like a dolphin with a little more holding power, I do take custom orders.

Finished off in several layers of gloss sealer on the front and matte on the back, this little magnet is water-resistant, not water-proof. You can wipe it off with a damp sponge, but don’t let it go for a swim!
The ArtMinds Wooden Dolphins are made from plywood and are roughly 4 inches long by 2.25 inches high. They have one strip of flat magnet on the back that will hold them securely in place on the fridge.
Medium: Liquitex White Gesso, Apple Barrel Acrylics (20504 Black), and Craftsmart Acrylics (Island Blue, Sailing Sky, and Ocean Breeze). ArtMinds Simple Dolphin Shape (10327315)
