Fat Hedgehogs #001-003

Fat Hedgehogs #001-003

What kitchen doesn’t need a little hedgehog??

This was the very first sculpted request animal (via my awesome Mom) and it gave me the confidence to open up the Fat Animal Magnets to my Facebook friends. After all, if I could sculpt passable hedgehog, anything was up for grabs!

…To be fair, quite a few folks thought he was a sheep, so I’m not 100% sure I pulled it off, but it was a popular choice come Christmas so I’m happy. 😀

I’m looking forward to doing a few more of these and seeing how they do out in the Etsy wilds. (Note to self: Someday I need to actually sculpt a sheep.)

#001 – The first realistic color that popped to mine were little grey hedgehogs, even though the brown ones are more common (per Google Images). Thus this little fella was painted with FolkArt (425 Medium Gray), Crasftsmart (Coral), and Apple Barrel (20504 Black).

#002 – I had thought the only other realistic color for hedgie was brown, but as I did research I found out there are a bunch of shades for both brown and black! So I went with a nice dark brown for the second one. This one was painted with FolkArt (504 VanDyke Brown), Crasftsmart (Coral, Golden Brown), and Apple Barrel (20504 Black).

#003 – I played around with a bunch of ideas for my fantasy hedgie and finally settled on this green and gold combination. He looks so cute in metallics! *snuggles carefully* Painted with FolkArt (671 Peridot, 577 Sahara Gold), and Apple Barrel (20504 Black).
