Amy was a small-town girl with big-town dreams, but she loved Iowa’s rolling hills just as much as she loved New York. When Jonathan joined the Marines, she flew back to wish her twin farewell and fair weather… and came home to a funeral instead.

The day after she stepped into her brother’s shoes, because the Myers had been Marines for five generations and she couldn’t– wouldn’t let that die too. For a while her parents thought they’d lost them both, but she returned still smiling, carrying that same diamond core as the Myers before her, still Amy after all.

Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.
Know the line has held, your job is done.
Rest easy, sleep well.
Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held.
Peace, peace, and farewell…

— Arlington National Cemetery
