Live From the Workbench

Live from the Workbench 09-29-2016

It’s been quite a week! (or five?)

I’ve been focusing a lot more on my art recently and that means there have been a lot of pieces coming off the workbench. I’ve been trying to be good and finish things that were already half-started, but in those down moments when paint is drying I have the really bad habit of starting something new.

Thus if I tried to cover everything I’ve been doing since the last update… this post would be enormous! So I’m going to stick to what is currently in progress on the workbench right now and do some individual posts for the completed stuff later.

But there are a lot of those too!

Model Horses

Four Horses of the Workbench
Four Horses of the Apocalypse– err, Workbench!

And yes, I have enough horses and other things that I need to split them out (yay?). I actually have more horses in the pipeline than are shown here, these are just the ones I am actively working on for the moment. So if you have a horse that I’ve said I was going to paint for you– no worries! It just wasn’t on the workbench today. 🙂

What is on the workbench are two custom orders and two future sales pieces. The TB to the left is going to be an attempt at a LSQ version of Partial Eclipse, who was a dark bay splash overo and is a custom order. The Peruvian Paso is going to be another dark black-bay and is a sales piece. The white TB is another custom order and is going to be a silver bay. The Standardbred is… well I have no idea what I was thinking. This is one of those customs from the ancient body box that I am trying to revive. I think I’m going to go with a brighter bay. *ponders*

Magnets

Wooden Draft Horse Cutouts

I have SO MANY magnets on the workbench right now. Many, many so’s. *solemn nods*

One of the more awesome reasons is that I found a seller on Etsy with some awesome laser cut draft horses that weren’t crazy expensive came in 1″ sizes and up. So of course I had to order the 1, 2, and 3 inch sizes… now I have a whole herd of tiny wooden horses to paint! (They fit amazingly well on the little wooden hearts that I got from Michael’s eons ago, so it looks like those might finally get used.)

I also have the very first cast out of my Octopus mold, a wooden dolphin as a beach scene, a half-dozen plaster cat heads (one is a gift), a few simple plaster horse heads, two plaster draft horse heads (one is a gift), the Battle Mountain turquoise wooden dolphin, two sleeping corgis and a kittenloaf.

Plus I’ve been working on starting to rehab the older photo showing bases so I can get them up on the Etsy store and trying to get my craft paint horde a bit more organized.

And, and, and…

I did mention that I have a hard time not starting new projects, right? 😉
