Live from the Workbench

Dramatic Lighting Hello Kitty Borg LeCuteis
LeCUTEis of Borg

The blog has been a bit writing-heavy in the past few weeks and I apologize to the folks who are more fond of the artistic end of things! I’ve gone ahead and removed a lot of the non-art posts from cross-posting to the Facebook page, so that feed is a little cleaner. (Twitter and G+ readers just get to suffer! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

But the Lost Lands of Art aren’t that far away!

Now that the temperature has warmed up and I’ve come out of my winter hibernation mode, things are slowly starting to move again. The joys of Virginia mean that with the warm weather comes the humidity, but I have a dehumidifier next to the art desk so I’m safe for now.

So what have we got on the workbench this week?

The Imperial Guard Penguin Magnet – DONE!

This little guy is finally complete and equipped for battle! (Although I still need to get good photos of him with his weaponry.)

His lightsabers might need a little refinement later down the line, but he’s going to live with a friend so I can always steal him back. His current weaponry was made from toothpicks, epoxy, and paperclips and a few creative uses of Gorilla Glue that didn’t quite work. (It expanded nicely and I could shape it when it was setting, but after drying it was still very squishily-spongelike. Oh well, worth a try.)

The Hello Kitty Borg (LeCuteis) – DONE!

I’ve been tweaking and re-tweaking the detailing on this little gal for a while now… so I finally came to grips with the fact I need to let her go. (Once again, it’s to a friend so in theory I can always kidnap her back for an update.)

She was a failed cast (missing half a nose) and the idea to make Hello Borgy grew from there. She’s mostly epoxy with a paperclip wire, and it pretty much cemented the fact that I don’t sculpt sharp angles well. Live and learn! ๐Ÿ™‚

Everything Else…

I have a LOT of horses on the workbench as well as some more magnets. I’m going to try and focus on the horses for the near future, but I’m hoping to have the aluminum smelter back up and running soon. (That really depends on finances, which could get very iffy in the next few months. ๐Ÿ™ )

Still, where there’s Life, there’s Art, so ONWARDS! ๐Ÿ˜€
