1. Dragons always traveled in pairs, one above, one below, but this dragon was wandering the forest alone.

2. I promised my mother only one thing in my life, that I’d never grow up to be like her. Tomorrow I break that promise.

3. The crowds here aren’t anything like the ones at home, they’re larger and more focused, but also infinitely more polite.

4. “Everyone picks something to be good at,” he said dismissively, “sports, art, science– I just picked something a little less ordinary.”

5. The mist swirled around her like a dying thing, clawing against the spell with grave-damp fingers.
