Summary: Written for Last Drabble Writer Standing (ldws), Round 2, Challenge 1: Storm. Scoring placed it more or less in the middle of the pack.

They huddled together in the ditch trying to escape the storm’s fury. It wasn’t the first time they’d been driven into hiding, cowering in the brambles of Scottish lowlands. It hadn’t hurt as much at first, seeing the burning hatred in the eyes of vanished friends. He’d understood, agreed at some basic level that he deserved such punishment. But as the years passed he fell from understanding into a simmering rage, furious at the friends he’d once called family.

But he’d show them. Peter cradled the wizened Voldemort to his chest, protected from the growing storm. They’d be sorry now.
