Time drips from my fingers, like rain, like names, like blood; bleeding away a self shed in desperation. Rose. Just a shell, a skin, a face like any other, even if it’s new. It’s still me, underneath; just look, you’ll see. Can’t you see? Like snow and rain, and hail, and mist; all water, nothing more.

But that’s the catch, isn’t it? I’m never sure which one I’ll be; mist or hail, storms or sea. I know what I’ve been, and I’ve been so many things Rose, but I can’t tell you who I am, not yet.

But I’m me.
