1. They’ve dug the well as deep as they can, but the water’s gone.

2. Cursing isn’t really mandatory, but it’s hard to get five minutes into a job without invoking deities or the parentage of the last mechanic who worked the hulls.

3. “Just don’t fall off.”

“That’s setting the bar pretty low,” he objected, successfully clambering into the saddle.

“Zero expectations, zero disappointments.” She handed him the reins.

4. The thicker the atmosphere the sooner things go blue, but the forests tend toward navy on their own so it’s impossible to tell how far away the woodline really is.

5. It’s easy to get lost in the now of things, losing weeks and months and sometimes years to the monotonous grind of everyday life. I don’t mean to forget my friends, my family, but the years roll by so quickly when you’re immortal– I always look up and find them gone.
