Pimped Rides Live (Custom Breyer Stablemate Andalusian)

Pimped Rides Live - Left

(I can’t believe I didn’t notice this didn’t post when it was scheduled back in Feb! *sighs* This year is really getting away from me… Anywho.)

This handsome fella is my first official donation horse of 2013! ๐Ÿ˜

He was painted as a donation to Pimped Rides Live held in Knoxville, TN on 2/23/2013. The donation request was completely open-ended, so I basically just grabbed some paint and let my imagination fly!

This handsome guy is a Breyer Stablemate G3 Andalusian painted to a purple-blue-green tobiano, with brown eyes, golden hooves, and a glossy finish.

The FolkArt paint turned out to be very translucent so I put an insane number of layers onto this guy. The colors blended together almost seamlessly but built up depressingly slowly. Still, the final effect was stunning– he really looks better in person, but I tend to say that about any horse with purple in it. *glares at camera*

I didn’t do any modifications to the mold beyond the normal seam and logo removal. I wish I had a few more of this mold to play around with, it’s a lot of fun to paint!

The Breyer Stablemate G3 Andalusian is a little under 3.5 inches tall, 4 inches long, and 1.5 inches wide. Per Breyer Stablemates are all 1:32 scale, but it varies a bit between molds.

He was started in January 2013, finished in February, and donated to the model horse show.

Medium: Liquitex Artist Color Acrylics (Gesso, Ivory Black, Bright Gold), FolkArt (670 Metallic Blue Pearl, 655 Metallic Aquamarine, 654 Metallic Amethyst)
