April Camp NaNo : Planning a Rebellion

I was waffling for a bit on what to do for my first Camp NaNoWriMo of the year. I’m more of a pantser than a planner, but after making a rough outline of what I wanted to accomplish vs. the free time I actually had– I had to thrown in the towel and embrace my inner rebel.

A proper novel will have to wait for July camp when I have a bit more free time. Thus the book I am writing for April Camp is ‘How I Wrote a Novel for April Camp.’

More or less. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m calling it The 30 Day Habit and it will be MuseFic and ‘real’ fic and ruminations on finding a way to write 1,000 words a day during the workweek. I figure there will be plenty of false starts and bad habits, but I will end up with a book that’s mostly about writing a book and the idea is amusing enough I think I’ll make it 50k, even with a hard month ahead.

1,000 words a workday might be too much to ask, but I figure it’s a nice round number and I’m all about round numbers. The main challenge will be finding things to write– I’m a bit unorganized at the moment when it comes to active WiPs and the list of ‘things I’ll write someday.’

With luck I’ll spend April not only hashing out the details of a new habit but on a tracking system as well.

It’s going to be an interesting month! ๐Ÿ™‚

That sounds achievable to me, the only real danger is the classic burn out which can sometimes happen if you force yourself to hit that 1k per day, know when you need a break and you are on the money

That’s a very good point! I tend to crash and burn after a NaNo and not get a lot of writing done– I’m hoping with this Camp to get a workable habit in place. ๐Ÿ™‚

It would be nice to head into the July Camp with a daily output that’s close to what I need. Rebellion is fun, but I’m also hoping to get back into the prose end of the NaNo pool!
