1. Sunshine tastes of lemonade and the shadows of a thunderstorm like mint.

2. On the other side of the door is the world she’s dreamed about since she was five.

3. “Unless you want to hold up the wall, you’d better move.” She raised the RPG with a grin.

4. Everyone assumes they’re together –‘odd couples’ are couples by default now– and some days he wonders why they aren’t.

5. The caravan dogs are bruisers in brindle fur, built more like bears than wolves.
