Lost in Translation (WoW vs. Diablo III)

Diablo III Beta

Last night was the first real stress test for me on the non-Beta side of things. I was able to play with a friend while keeping up the 2mph pace I use with WoW, so it looks like my treadmill gaming days shall continue.

I can’t figure out a way to dual-box since it will only let me have one D3 game on the battle.net account—but that’s probably a good thing since all of the macros and keybinds that make my dual-boxing work in WoW don’t look like they’d fare well here. (On a side note, I do like the little announcements from the NPC minions that tell you when they stop following and start doing their own scripted action.)

That said, it’s very odd to play solo again, and much odder to play with friends. I need to get a vent server setup asap, there’s nothing more frustrating than trying to type and play! *mutter*

But back to the good notes…

Witch Doctors are just as much fun to play in the ‘real’ game as the beta. I love my dogs and even though the spiders are OMGFLAIL! they are still useful little dudes. Having an AOE slow plus an insane amount of minions made sure I got through the game without any deaths. I’m still looking forward to trying on the rest of the classes, but I think my gal Fallow will be my main.

I seem to be enjoying a mana bug at the moment, no matter how much I used things I never saw it drop. I’m going to be sad when that’s fixed and my MILLION SPIDER ARMY™ goes back to more normal levels. (I don’t remember the beta being anywhere near as forgiving. *sighs*)

Anywho, more actual WoW posts to follow in a bit—but I’ve got the same Diablo bug that’s bit everyone else, so…. yeah. 😉

Great post. I haven’t tried Diablo yet and I have been getting mixed reviews with the launch. Many people are unable to log in or it crashed every ten minutes. But some people are raving and having no trouble at all.

If you are looking for a voip setup raidcall is free.

I honestly expected the first few days of Diablo’s launch to be completely unplayable, so it’s been a pleasant surprise. I’ve also got a slightly older video card, so I figured between the card and the lag playing with friends would be out of the question. So being able to log in on both Tuesday and Wednesday (was out sick yesterday) was awesome. I’m a little worried about the extra slam of players come this weekend, but I’m holding out hope that it will be just as awesome. 😀

Thanks for the recommendation for raidcall! I’ve been looking for a way to add voicechat to Diablo and freeware is greatly appreciated. Setting up a vent server would be doable, but I’m all for saving money when I can. 🙂
