What, No Pictures?

Back when I was writing primarily on LiveJournal, posts didn’t need something shiny to polish them off—the text stood fine on its own. Even when things could’ve used a graphical boost, it was a formatting headache to get the pictures to show up where you wanted them to.

Now that I’ve settled into WordPresslandia and its norms, I have a whole mess of draft posts that are sitting in queue waiting on the shiny… and waiting… and waiting.

Some of them make sense, like screencaps for the leveling posts and photos of the model horse workbench updates, but I’m feeling a little silly holding off on the business and writing posts just because I don’t have good pics.

But they don’t feel finished and I can bring myself to hit publish until there’s something more than just words on the page. I need the shiny, dammit—but I’m not sure why.

I read plenty of other blogs that have only a scattering of pictures, or none at all. I also read blogs that are more Flickr gallery than prose, but I’m not quite that brave. (Blood Elves are rarely as pretty as they think they are. *solemn nod*)

I’m almost tempted to just spend this weekend taking photos of artfully arranged writing materials and bookkeeping paperwork so I have something to post later. *pokes blog*

Am I the only one that feels the pressing need for the shiny or are there others out there that think every post deserves a little eye candy?
