Nocte Rex

Nocte Rex

Nocte Rex is Latin for King of the Night and this little guy is definitely rocking the midnight hours! He’s got a deep blue-bay coat, glossed silver hooves and a silver star to light the way ahead. I was tempted to add a few more constellations along his flanks, but he seemed content as is.

Rex is a simple little custom; starting with a flat blue coat I added the bay shadings with pastels and then touched them up with acrylics. He’s finished in matte with only the silver markings (and realistic eyes) done in gloss.

He’s had his seams sanded and logo removed, but no other modifications to the mold beyond that. He’s meant as a shelf piece, but he might make a nice photo shower as well… I’m just not sure he’s flashy enough to place (alas).

Medium: Liquitex Artist’s Color Acrylics (Ivory Black, Gesso, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna), FolkArt (720 Cobalt Blue, 662 Metallic Silver Sterling), Sargent Art Chalk Pastels (Earthtone and Fantasy)
