This little gal is something of an oddity in terms of painting techniques. Normally I paint a solid base color and then go back and add white markings, but in this case I left the primer coat alone painted ‘around’ the white markings instead.
Other than the backwards painting method, Baron is a pretty basic red bay. The red base is unshaded and the black points are done in a mixture of acrylics and pastels. The blue eyes need work to be more realistic, but that’s a learning curve I’m still climbing.
And yes, technically it should be Red Baroness, but it’s a fantasy horse and I’m invoking artistic (naming) license. *solemn nod*
