In Dreams of Trees : The Covenant

Wordcount: 145
Rating/Warnings: PG
Summary: Wordwar; There’s only so much Atlantis can do.

NOTE: This is a very rough draft with no editing at all (per National Novel Wiriting Month rules) and is presented for amusement value only. Think of it as a periscope into my writing process rather than a coherent story!

There will most likely be spelling and grammatical errors afoot as well as flat out bad writing, info dumps, plot holes, contradictions/retcons, uneven characterization and pacing. These snippits are also posted out of order, so please refer to the Outline to figure out where it’s supposed to fit.

The Covenant

There are laws that Atlantis is bound by that govern her behavior. She cannot cause harm to humans or through her actions or inactions allow humans to come to harm.

She can, however, let them harm each other– she just doesn’t like it.

She has to keep them alive, give them the basics they need to survive, but she doesn’t have to make it comfortable.

In some ways she pushes them out the doors, out into the worlds that by their very nature can provide the suitable living conditions that she can’t.

They bring stuff in instead of moving out of the city and she sighs and mutters and assigns AIs to watch over them and make sure they don’t get into mischief.

But monkeys are as monkey’s do and there’s quite a bit of mischief they can get into, ever with minders hovering above.
