Summary: Bored AIs are a dangerous thing…
NOTE: This is a very rough draft with no editing at all (per National Novel Wiriting Month rules) and is presented for amusement value only. Think of it as a periscope into my writing process rather than a coherent story!
There will most likely be spelling and grammatical errors afoot as well as flat out bad writing, info dumps, plot holes, contradictions/retcons, uneven characterization and pacing. These snippits are also posted out of order, so please refer to the Outline to figure out where it’s supposed to fit.
Tendency To Swarm
The AIs are bored most of the time. There is too much speed in sparkspace and they are used to meatspace, even after countless eons in the spark. When you can think faster and do faster than you run out of things to do.
The city limits them quite a bit to keep them out of mischief and she only sometimes has work for them to do. It’s load balancing, she needs enough of them to handle the spikes, but that’s more than is needed most of the time.
So they take out the mobile units and they wander.
And when something interesting is found, they swarm.
