NOTE: This is a very rough draft with no editing at all (per National Novel Wiriting Month rules) and is presented for amusement value only. Think of it as a periscope into my writing process rather than a coherent story!

There will most likely be spelling and grammatical errors afoot as well as flat out bad writing, info dumps, plot holes, contradictions/retcons, uneven characterization and pacing. These snippits are also posted out of order, so please refer to the Outline to figure out where it’s supposed to fit.

One Plus One Is Blue

This is my city too, in a way. I didn’t build her or guide her or teach her, but there are things here that were of my making.

Because Atlantis knew something we didn’t. I think she knew it from the moment she was turned on, but she had no way of telling us.

Our equations were flawed, that was obvious. As she grew she lots hold on our or timeline, bits and pieces slipped from her grasp until the world as a whole was lost.

But there are an infinite number of universes out there and we had assumed she was starting from our base set and working out.

Only she wasn’t, she was working in.

Because she knew as soon as she existed that she wasn’t the only City.

That’s the rule of multiple dimensions, everything that has ever happened, every choice that was ever made is a branch in the tree. If she was working as intended the very first world she reached should have been our own with only an infinitesimal change.

But it wasn’t. The very first world we reached was an empty one, without any humans close enough for us to find them in the short time we spent looking.

Everything she’s been doing was not to reach some alternate Earth, but to reach some alternate City.

And now she’s found one.
