Sudden Digression (Custom Breyer Stablemate Thoroughbred)

Sudden Digression - Custom Breyer Stablemate Thoroughbred - Yellow Going Gray - Left

This little gal is one of my favorites (in name and in color) and one of the horses I really wish I hadn’t sold. In theory, I could paint her again, but I’m oddly reluctant to try.

Sudden Digression is a customized Breyer Stablemate G2 Thoroughbred. She’s had her logo removed and seams sanded, but no other changes were made to the mold.

It’s hard to see from these photos, but she’s solid white along her topline and then white dapples down, gradually fading out to yellow. Not an accurate translation of the graying patterns on real horses, but more of an artistic interpretation thereof.

I managed to find a few more photos while digging through imports from the older computers, but I still haven’t been able to find the index card with her details. I know from old spreadsheets that she sold first in February 2003 and then again in October 2005 (I touched up and resold older customs for a customer).

I had her marked as a ‘keeper’ so I have a feeling she’s probably a 2001/2002 custom.

Medium: Liquitex Acrylics
Status: Painted 2002? and Sold Feb 2003 and then again on Oct 2005
