Payson’s Lad was painted as a match to Lassie Come Lately and is named for one of the collies owned by Albert Payson Terhune. Terhune wrote a whole host of books about the rough coated collies of Sunnybank Kennels.
Tricolour CollieThere’s not much else to add about this little guy, he’s a pretty straightforward paintjob without the shading or depth of color you’d find on my later customs (or the in-focus photos).
The color pattern translates a bit oddly on this mold, ended up with a much larger white ruff than intended. If I paint another one, I’ll probably pick a collie with larger black areas in order to cut down on the stretched neck effect.
Payson’s LadI’m still pretty fond of the idea behind the Darwin ponies and I’m itching to try out a blue merle or boxer brindle…
