No Future Trees

Baron looked again. This time without his pipe dreams and without his sense of superiority. He could make people’s lives worse, he saw that now, when he looked down the trees. He had not thought of that before, that being a rider could be the end of someone’s life instead of the beginning.

But he still did not find anyone.
